We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic communications specialist to join our team. Working as part of the Atiigo Media Creative Team, you will be responsible for supporting clients and providing assistance in the development and implementation of communications strategies. This includes assisting with the planning and coordination of events such as public awareness campaign launches, news conferences, photo opportunities, trade shows, and other major events. A communications specialist is expected to be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
You will play a supporting role in the development of print material ensuring all communications are accessible and culturally relevant. Experience working in and / or knowledge of Inuit Nunangat (Inuit culture and languages) as well as Inuit organizations, Northern governments and community governments an asset.
Education Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Communications or relevant field
Experience: 5 years direct job experience
Pay: 60,000- 70,000.00/yr base salary or commensurate with experience
Location: Iqaluit, NU

Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of client communication strategies and how to apply them within a Northern context.
- Facilitate Media outreach including researching and writing press releases.
- Social media content creation.
- Develop content for client websites, reports, infographics, blogs, and newsletters etc.
- SWOT analysis, literature review and environmental scans for client campaigns.
- Acquire and maintain a detailed understanding of the company’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up-to-date with relevant developments.
- Arrange and coordinate press conferences and plan events.
- Adhere to the company’s and clients style guides, ensuring that we produce a high-quality and error-free copy.
- Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various client-based initiatives.
- Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, strategic partners and key external role-players.
- Support the Communications Lead. Activities may include, planning meetings, coordinating with clients, note taking, research, copy editing, writing, logistics etc.
- Performing other duties when needed.
Requirements and skills:
- Bachelors degree or diploma in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (essential).
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in communications strategy development (essential).
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills.
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.
- Ability to translate complex topics into plain language communications.
- Content writing experience for all media platforms
- Proven social media and networking expertise.
- Strategic and creative mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work virtually with team members.
